Are You Hungry?!
For the past two years Chef’Special guarantees jumping crowds, sweaty shirts and smudged make-up. Their music is a mix of hiphop, funk, reggae and rock; with laid-back grooves and heavy guitar-solos. The band’s sound is often compared to Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Sublime and RHCP. The group was formed in the summer of 2008 and has continued to grow musically and artistically ever since. They have become a very convincing live act with loads of energy and musical joy.

The Hungry EP
The new decennium got a blasting kickoff for Chef’Special with the release of their first studio EP ‘Hungry’. Four songs that display the dynamics and energy of their sound in some rather tasty artwork: a raw piece of meat, ready for cooking. The release also includes an self recorded road movie with compilation footage of both their 2008 and 2009 summer tours through Europe. A unique view into the backstage (and outdoor) adventures of this exceptional music group. The Hungry EP is downloaded over 25.000 times worldwide and got very positive reviews from both media, bloggers and listeners.

Performances
Chef’Special’s key strength is performing, whether it’s at original locations or a full concert setup. They are always able to reach out and entertain their crowd. In the past two years they played beaches, living rooms, bars, festivals and pop venues. This diversity in locations also proves their musical strength and charismatic appearance to entertain the smallest as well as largest crowds alike. In 2009 alone, the band played more than 80 shows across five countries. This year they are planning to tour again among those cities and beaches. Yet this time bigger, better and stronger.

International
The appeal of Chef’Special cannot be bound by national borders. Directly after the band got together they packed their van for a trip across Europe. During this trip they met and connected with the surf / extreme sports community. A relationship that continues to be relevant, because their music seems to fit in perfectly with the vibes and atmosphere of this international subculture. The band has played shows in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain and Italy. This year they plan to go to the UK and Germany.

The Future
For the remainder of 2010 a lot of artistic developments are on the menu. The band is now working on a new single which will be released this summer. The first preparations are made for the recording of a full length studio album. Chef’Special continues to write and rehearse new songs, exploring more musical territories, sounds and styles to add to their already delicious blend of music.
